Dear parents,

The girls are given a revision paper and HaoPengYou issue 34 to complete.

They have also been assigned online work in MC Online. Besides that, on 18 Oct, which is their E Learn day, they are also assigned an online revision on chapter 13.

The girls had received their Chinese file for revision during the 1 week break.

Please be reminded that they will sit for their pen and paper assessment which will cover from Hanyu Pinyin to Chapter 13 on week 6. They will also be sitting for a listening comprehension assessment on week 6 too.

Dear Parents,

Signing of Chinese Test Papers

Dear Parents,

The girls have received back their 3 different assessment papers for Chinese today. They are 1) Pen and Paper assessment, 2) Reading Assessment, 3) Picture Conversation.

Please take a look at their performance and sign on the 3 respective papers. Do remind your daughter to put the assessment papers back into their Homework file as I would like to collect from them tomorrow.

P1 Chinese Cultural Shadow Puppet Show on 2 Sept

Dear Parents,

The girls would have received a letter regarding an excursion to watch a shadow puppet show on 2nd Sept. It will be at the National Community Leadership Institute near Bouna Vista. Transport will be provided. The girls will leave the school at 10am and returned to school by 1.30pm.

The school strongly encourages all to attend as such opportunities to appreciate Chinese arts and culture are rare. The cost of admission is $18 per pupil. Our school will be subsidizing $8 per child and your child will only need to pay $10 in cash or cheque.

Kindly enclose the cash or cheque in an envelope together with the payment slip detached from the letter and remind your child to pass to me tomorrow.

Dear Parents,

Please help to check if your child has 1B ZiBaoBao cards. I have asked the girls to bring on Monday. If you have not purchase it, please try to do so during the weekend. Please write the child's register number and class on the back of the cards so that it will be easier to find if one of the cards is misplaced.

The girls are required to do their Chinese Writing Practice book, pages 38 to 45.

I have returned them their HaoPengYou 16, 17, 18, please ensure that they put at home so that they can use them as revision or reading materials.

Chinese Spelling 14 and Holiday Homework

Dear Parents,

Chinese Spelling 14 will be on Term 3 Week 1, Tuesday, 2nd July.

The girls are tasked to complete online assignment in MC Online. They are to complete 'Guan Jun Wang', chapter 1 to chapter 5.

Do encourage your child to read more storybooks during the holiday. They can start with picture books and words with hanyu pinyin. On the right hand side of this blog, there is a link to a reading blog where you can access a list of recommended storybooks for your child.

Homework and Other Matters - 10 May

Dear Parents,

The girls have been assigned to complete pages 13, 14, and 15 for their Chinese Writing Practice book (White base book with a picture of a dog on the cover).

I have informed the girls that there will be no spelling next Tuesday and to revise the words learned in their textbook since Term 1.

The girls have finished Chapter 3 of the textbook and will start with Chapter 4 next week.

The spelling books have been returned to the girls, please take a look at their performance and sign on the content page of the book.

Spelling 13 on 21 May 2013

Dear Parents,

Please note that the girls will only have their Spelling 13 on 21 May 2013 (Tuesday) instead of next Tuesday. I will be giving out the new spelling list tomorrow together with their spelling book. Please sign on the content page of the spelling book and remind your child to do their corrections if they have any.

This is their first spelling with Chinese characters and personally, I feel that they quite well. I believe as they get used to the new spelling format, they will be able to do even better.

Dear Parents,

A sample of the reading assessment has been given out to the girls for your reference. Please note that it is only a sample of how the pupils will be assessed in the reading component for this term's holistic assessment. The words in the sample are NOT the words that will be assessed. The words that will be assessed are the words that they have learned in their 1A textbook. Do help your girls to revise what they have learned regularly.

字宝宝 Chinese Word Cards

Dear Parents,

I have asked the girls to bring their 1A 字宝宝 Word Cards to school. I will be doing some activities with them using the word cards to help them to remember the Chinese characters that they have learned. If you have not purchased it, you can go to Popular Bookshop or the school's bookshop to purchase. 

Please ensure that your child's name is on the box and on the back of the cards. Your child can write their class and register number instead of their name. (I have explained to them) This is to prevent mix up of cards while doing the activities.

The girls will continue to note their assignments and reminders in their Pupil's Handbook to cultivate their sense of responsibility for their own learning and also to nurture them to be self-directed learners.
